Building a Connected Enterprise GIS
Azure Minerals
Since 2025, Mammoth has worked alongside the Azure Minerals team to develop a more connected GIS environment, with better data management, established systems like PostGIS, practical workflows, training and ongoing support.

Bringing an enterprise GIS together
When Mammoth started working with Azure in 2025, QGIS and Mergin Maps were already being used across the organisation. The foundations were there, but as the team's use of spatial data had grown, so had the challenge of keeping data, workflows and field information organised and connected.
Mammoth was brought in to help bring these pieces together and create a more consistent foundation for the team's GIS work.
Bringing the data together
We started by working through the existing spatial data, cleaning it up and establishing a clearer structure for managing it. We then set up a central PostGIS database, giving the team a shared spatial data environment that could support their QGIS projects and wider GIS workflows.
From there, we developed practical QGIS workflows and helped connect them with Mergin Maps for field data collection. We also worked directly with the team through QGIS and Mergin Maps training, helping staff build the skills and confidence to manage their own GIS work.
Supporting the team
The work wasn't just about putting new systems in place. We worked alongside the team as they adopted new workflows, helping troubleshoot problems, refine processes and build their understanding of the GIS environment.
Today, the team has a much more organised and connected GIS, with better-managed spatial data, established workflows and the skills to make use of them. Mammoth continues to provide ongoing support and mentoring, including an in-house presence that gives the team access to GIS expertise when they need it.
